Long Travel Review 4

Designed as a complete system, the front control arms feature construction of Chromoly tubing with dimple die gusset plates. Arms are located to the frame via graphite impregnated Delrin bushings.

Ok so I'm putting my longtravel on this weekend. Now I need rims. Anyone got any suggestions or rims for sale? I'm mostly in the sand very rarely on hard pack. Not to sure what to go with and what size to go with. Thanks for the help.Ok guys so what is the ending result should I keep my 14's with the long travel kit or should I switch over to 12's ????:dot:I forgot to mention i also purchased a 6 0ver long travel from mason motorsports. with this will i still need to trim the fenders with the 26" tires. Also on my last ride i had bighorns wanted to try terracross this time are they as bad as every one says? I would be running alot at ocatio wells. You will get rubbing with long travel due to more travel of the tire. During compression it will go farther up. If you just want looks there is lift kits that just lift you up. Be ready to ruin your performance.

Ours with our long travel fits on a 6x12 foot trailer perfectly! with over a foot to spare!I would go with the offsets if your not going to go long travel.I have the 26" ITP's on the 14" rim. They look great but have been thinking of going dowm to the 25's to see if I get more power too. I was told with long travel not to though.maybe stock offset will, but dunno. I have long travel with stock offset, and its perfect! (not stock wheels though)...

Hey, I have a SCF long travel kit.Would I still need a 1" spacr to run these lil 10" wheels? Do you have them in spokes? j/k, but I do want a set for sheeeezeeee!!!I love to watch long travel in slow motion...nice vid!yea try going through whoops like that at 40 w/o long travel, ill never do that again, hit the first 2 bucked straight up in the air, pumped the throttle enough to get it somewhat leveled out to where i wouldnt end over ended the next one i hit, very close to end over end but it came out hahaha. btw i noticed that even with the +2 for +2 rear arms it still bucks alot, i wish i could get rid of that.I do like that long travel RZR.

That long travel rzr looks crazy !Seems like the long travel is working greatsomething tells me ill just never have the $4700 cash minimum to drop on the rhino. i guess if i went back and just had longtravel...no..even then i would have been short.the guy that wouldnt let Todd go by has a bone stock motor, long travel, some big balls, and a lead foot. Not to mention some driving skills. Todd has about just the same, but he has a nice yellow rhino too! Good job guys!

As soon as I get my long travel on I'll get some pics and some sound clips of it!!! Might need some help posting them up tho!long travel only sticks out like 4 inches from the fenders..Just wanted to say hello and show a pic of my rhino I am a member of Glamis and see many members here..I live in Texas and have a 07 Rhino that has a WOTM intake with Lid on and stock jetting,Two Bros Duels,Dyna CDI and 25 tires..I hit 52 MPH with only the CDI and then put on the Longtravel and intake and exhaust and stayed at 52 which I thought was good with no jetting..My Rhino is in Az right now getting a 686 kit from John @Racers Edge and The New clutch from Kelly at PDM..I went with these two because of the good things I have heard about them and so far their customer service has lived up to everything I have heard..The clutch I am getting is suppose to be quieter than the current ones .. I am very anxious to see what this setup will do and will fill you in Hopefully later this weekendOk so I have an 07 660. Its a 4 seater right now with offset rims and that's it. I'm doing my longtravel this weekend and I want to do some engine upgrades too. What's a good intake and exhaust to run? I've looked into the new afe intake with the scoop and alba exhaust. Whata you guys thing???

WHHHHHAAAATTT???OOOOOOKKKK!!! Lol yea I need to get something done. I got the cdi already. I wonder if I can get it shiped and in by friday..uhm...I need to find some more $$$$ I already borrowed the wifey's stash for a long travel. Hope she don't find out or ill be livin in my toyhauler...lol can't wait to see it if I don't get one. Thanks again mengMy rhino hauls ass, it is the kit to get if you want to go fast and not do engine work. I do 53 on the digidash down sand highway with long travel.Yo tyrap he said long travel by that I would assume thats XTR but you what happens when we assume!!!! I consider MTS mid travel. LSR XTRs have never been able to fit stock offset wheels on the rear.:headbang:I'm looking to get a long travel kit need to know what is good just for playing around i don't race. just desert, sand, and some rock crawling need suggestions.

get the long travel so you don't kick your self later in the you know what.boy, let me in on this info, was up in Snowflake this weekend and my rear shocks are GONE!!! tied it dwon and only has about an inch between my tire and fenderwell. thats only with 26's. i want to go mid or long travel eventually so dont want to spend a fortune on shocks either that i'd just have to resell. So I installed my longtravel and everything is great when I'm alone or with one passenger but I had my nephwe and his friend(16yr old kids bout 150# each) and I was bottomin out even going slow. So my question is what type of springs and what load should I upgrade too and who has em in stock? I'm ususally alone, and when I do have people in the back is my 7yr old daughter and 3 yr old son. So do I really need em? Will they help that much when I'm alone? Thanks peepsyou need a little more info here. What long travel, what shocks and what springs do you have?

Well I just went on the first ride with the Vinco Racing Long Travel. There is one word that I can use to describe this kit, PLUSH!!!!!!!!!!!! This kit rocks! At first I was very hesitant on ordering this kit becuase of the fox nitrogen shocks. The ride I just went on took all my fears away. I was riding very smooth. Jake and Jedd at Vinco have awesome customer service. They had my kit shipped to me on a weeks notice (and that included having the arms chromed). There were a couple of bumps along the way (these were not there fault) but they took care of them anyway.hey guys witch long travel kit is the best...witch one do u recommend?ive never rode in one with the long travel..i ride in rocks alot on the trails and the stock ride beats me to death..does the long travel ride alot better..also the ride height is important..needs to be higher than i see some rhinos. for goin over rocks..I have finally made up my mind and purchased a SCF long travel kit! I was wondering if there is any certain things I need to understand when in stalling this kit? The kit was purchased used from Brian B, (thanks) I just want to know if there is anything important to know when bolting this thing up!!! I Am going to go through the axles and make sure they have plenty of grease in them, and when installed I will be greaseing the pivot joint as well! Any thing else that I may need to know???

The only question I have is WHY did I not buy a kit sooner!!!!!! This long travel shit is F-U-C-K-I-N-G COOL!!!!!Is this more likely to happen with long travel ?On the 11 or 12 long travel kits I have done I have not installed the sway bar because in testing on my kit I found the rear suspension worked much better through woops without the sway bar especially when the the woops were uneven or off camber. We have had absolutely no C.V. problems.:DI ran mine in the dunes today with the sway bar disconnected. Worked great. Granted i have not tried the long travel with the sway bar connected but see no reason too at this point cause it worked great. I'll be pulling it completely off in the next few days.

Those are cool would they be beneficial on a stocker and can you still use them when you go longtravel ?Has anyone used these, if so how did they work, i dont wanna for out a few grand to long travel it, i could have arms made but the dang axles are like 1500. ive heard a little about the bolt on kings anyone with experience on them would help thanksI have kings on my long travel kit and love them. My pops' buddy has them on his stock rhino with offset wheels only and he said they made a night and day difference over the stockers.I would like to test that shock on a few different long travel kits! Please pm me if you, or your friends at Fox would like some testing help!

XTREME builds a great long travel kit! I've had mine now for, about 5 months or so, and i've been racing the rhino, both short course and desert, but we use WALKER EVANS coil overs, they are fully adjustable and everyting, they come out to every single one of the races that i have raced, and they look at me jumping and what not, and they will work on it, maybe stiffen it and stuff, but they stand behind tere stuff, and know what they are doing.food for thought....A buddy of mine added a long travel kit and was doing exactly what yours is, pulling the clip off. It turned out that the shocks were too long. It not only popped the clip but kept tearing cv boots. Once he got the shock length corrected the problem went away...Check this new kit they are local www.eselongtravel.comI'd go with the xtreme 3" long travel kit, i have a 6" kit of there's and I race short course and it works awesome!!!!

The Long Travel Rhino kit has welds on the outer part of the arms which I think weakens the arm. In my opinion the Lone Star MTS kit is much stronger but for motorcross track riding you would better off with the XTR kit. You need to decide what your happy medium is. I am a Lone Star dealer you can call me if you have any questions. 602-418-5366.the Long Travel Rhino kit is only 5" wider per side just for the reason of trail ridding and it has the same amount of travel as most of the 6"/6.5" kits on the market. Our kits are 1 1/4" square tubing and use an upper and lower 7/8" bearing on the front arms and we make all of our own axles in house unlike a lot of other kits that use other company's axles and have no quality control over themI see alot of prices going down on long travel, How long until lsr reduces the mts kit? There is a 6" fabtech longtravel new in box that trueline is selling with shocks for 3800 bucks in the for sale section !....hell I might jump on it !

I want thank Jimmy at XTREME for the 6" XTR LONG TAVEL WITH WALKER EVANS FULLY ADJUSTABLE SHOCKS, thanks for taking the time to helping set up our long travel, i have to say there was some BIG woops in the infield and sand pit, and my rhino handled incredibly through everything!! Thank again!looks good! thanks for posting pics, I just wanted to see the long travel kit. wasnt aware of the race.its cheapest price for long travelI'd suggest riding it first, seeing if you need any more from the suspension. The stock stuff soaks the bumps up great, but it has it's limits. You can do shocks that will help with the added weight of the back seat for around 1700 with adjustable compression, mid travel stuff for 2500, but you will still need shocks for it to work properly with the 4 seater or 5000+ for complete long travel.

Thank you guys so much after hearing all of your replys I went ahead and ordered the RhinoMafia Race set up long travel thanks to everyone one more time and I will post pics as soon as I have my Rhino back... :headbang:Thanks Mike, I decided to go with my fabricators Custom Long travel with the bilsteins. He builds killer arms and I can do the whole LT for about the price of the MTS kit.I am picking up my Rhino from American Sand Toys in Yuma, AZ today. I smoked a great deal on there new Long travel kit. It comes with Walker Evans adjustable shocks and suspension limiters. I stopped by to look at the install this morning and it looks sick. I will post pictures as soon as I can so you can all take a look at this new long travel kit.I just picked up my Rhino. Sorry the pictures are not very good. I could not resist taking a spin and getting dirty. The difference from stock to Long Travel is just magnificent. The damn thing should not even be sold with the stock suspension. Anyway American Sand Toys just opened a new location in Yuma and this is the first kit installed here in Yuma. It rocks. Anyone need a hook up see Mike or Tammy.:fing02:

i recently put a set of douglas spyders with maxxis bighorns on my ride....the front tires rub pretty bad when im articulated a certain way...i dont want this to eventually rub a hole in the front floorboard....so i was thinking of putting a lift on the rhino....have you guys heard of any problems a lift would cause...for suspension or anything else?i know it will change center of gravity but im not worried about that...or do i have any other options...im definately not gonna put long travel on..too expensive right now....and plus the wheels i bought wont work with long travel....any help or advice would be great..:1zhelp:Mine did the same thing, I put spacers helped it a lot, it only hit at slow max turning.....go long travel.....frame a few more housesOk, possibly in the market for another long travel setup for another rhino I want to build, but I'd like to try it on miy current rhino on the track 1st.... I know these are both great kits, and well dialed in. I need some opinions of why I should go with either or. I want a full 6" over LT kit, and I noticed that the rhino mafia comes optional with a race setup which consists of longer shocks that are setup great for track. The LSR kit is set in one place. How do they compare on the MX track for flying over 50-70 ft jumps and hard landings on 25" tires?? Starving for feedback and comparisons from people that know by experience here. I just want to buy another kit 1x, and not mess with settings on shocks. Just want to tell the company selling me the kit one time that I race my rhino, and I need shocks for good abuse. I like my SCF kit, but I am a victim of not having the proper valving, and unsatisfied right now about always spending $$$ re-valving, but never being super happy about it. The kit is made well, but I feel lost about perfect valving, so I just want to take my chances with some good advice and feedback!:dunno:Thanks for the input. I'm wondering if the long travel suspensions will be even worse than the mid travel suspension? The farther apart the rear tires are the more "scrub" there is going to be with the rear diff being locked. Can you get the long travel Rhino's through the turns quickly, or are they hard to handle on the tight courses?

i do a lot of single track trails and i have the +6 xmf long travel, works great, just doesn't turn quite as sharpgo long travel.......I'm planning on buying the full long travelI have the SCF long travel kit. I need help with shocks. I have the kings on my rhino and they dune good and they get through the woops good but when I jump I bottom out easy. If there is some kind of landing I dont normally bottom out. I am running 25's so I know I dont have the ground clearence I need. Do I need to look at valving or heavier springs? Or maybe a dual rate set up? Please help. Thanks

I'm only talking long travel with dual rate, I can't speak for there stock replacemnets, What you guys are saying about the wers and bilstiens is consistent with cartwheeling's review of stock replacements.:fingersx: your looking for info, that was won of the places that had it. i dont need long travel. just though i would helpI loved my Fox shocks before I got long travel. I don't really think they give you more travel, but it feels like they do once dialed in.Whats the difference between So Cal Fab and So Cal UTV long travel kits? Are they two totally different companies? Anyone had any experiences with the So Cal UTV kit?

Well I just put a 6"-8" lift on my 2004 Chevy HD2500 Duramax that was made by California SuperTrucks and its rocks. Fitment is the best. I didnt know they made Long Travel kits for Rhinos. That will probably be the route I take, as I found the kit w/Walker Evans Shocks plus Gorilla axles for $5900. Does that seem about right?any one know of someone making good longtravel axles besides gorilla and gear 1any one know of someone making good longtravel axles besides gorilla and gear 1Sure seems like a tough question to answer. I have only been in two long travel Rhinos, mine with Fabtech, and a friends with Mason. They both work great.

hey everybody im pretty new to the whole rhino scene and i just bought a so-cal fab long travel kit for my 686 rhino and their aluminum spindles. im not quite sure what your talkin about cause i didnt have any trouble installing my kit everything fit perfectly. i dont know what it is i guess you just have to have a quarter of a brain to install it without grinding shit. but im no mechanic so . . . . .. and deuce im not quite sure what your problem is i guess your still just butt hurt that you didnt purchase real quality and paid twice as much for itWhen we were looking at LT kits the fact that the Long Travel Rhino kit is only 5" wider per side versus 6" and 6.5" and had the same amount of travel as the other's was the deciding factor for us. We do a lot of trail ridding and the trails are narrow. After installing the kit and how well it all went together was a big plus. 1 big vote for long travel rhinoHow much are the Long Travel Rhino kits? Im looking for the lowest prices anyone knows of... Thanks in advance...Well, Brian (evo22) I guess you dont know as much as you think buddy. This is John, from rhino crap, and yes we do have a LTR kit in stock at the store its the last one you sent us,you know the one we had to weld a new tab on. it had a 10mm tab on one side and 12mm on the other side. Also, yes we NOW sell badass rhino long travel kits ... and yes they are nicer then the kits we used to get from you when you have the old employees that designed the kit while working for you. Yup, the same guys as you know are still building them for us. Don't get me wrong your kits kick ass, I have them on a lot of rhinos including mine and it works awsome. But, because you couldnt keep your bussiness running, it shouldnt put me out of business. We did what we had to do to stay in business (We also talked to many other long travel manuafuters to find one that can keep up with our demand) and keep our custermers happy ... Im 100% confident we made the right choice. the new BADASS Rhino kit rocks better then everr. Besides the geometry changes, it comes with all Zinc plated hardware, all the peices heat sealed and seperated in a bag, unlike like your kit that came with some of the peices scattered everywhere. it comes with newer, better axles that are black oxidized. The bolt carriers on the arms are not a piece of round tubing with a plate welded on the end, they are now CNC machined, the whole kit fits better and makes the installation go much faster. We have installed up to 5 in 1 week. I can go on and on, ill take some pictures for everybody and post them on here. Anyway brian, (evo) hows our race rhino that you picked up at the rhino nationals in sept coming?? Wow seems like 7 months is a long time to wait for a race rhino. we have 3 done, that we started in January. So on top of you not being able to take care of your custermers, you cant take care of your venders, etc etc. That's why we now roll with badass rhino ...you had some awsome shit you just needed to get it together on a business aspect, not tryin to air dirty laundry, more less clearing the air.

Long Travel Rhino relocated whole engine back. I think it was back. I don't know why it would be forward, but I totally forget. Yup, it had to be back. Not enuff space to go forward really, but thats a great idea!I love my Fabtech shocks on my Rhino, but I do have the long travel suspension to go along with it. They run great!I love my SCF kit! Looks sick as hell! No comment on his customer service. Just bad for business tellin you what I think. He reads the forums too he says! BUt he has been more than fair to me lately. He sent me some cleviss at no charge just to be a cool dude... Sometimes its hard to get ahold of him though when you need him... That I can agree on, but I do know that he has 7X as much going on than we do, and a gang of people working for him, I guess pimpin ain't easy like 2 short says! And he seems to be on top of the world in his neck of the woods, so more power to him and his great designs in fab work, but hopefully more power to some in need of his help if need be. I love my kit and comes with nice tie rod setup and he does offer some sick spindles. I sell his kit, with all the shock options, and if I were to do it again, I'd go with his kit.... And whats funny is, the least likely guy to get my biz for long travel would be the company that has the exact same arm (pretty much). An exact duplicate!!! Toxic rhinos. What a hoax!!! I'll be damn if he even sells any kits. I don't hear any good of that place..... oh wellHave any of you heard anything about LTR'S longtravel, good, bad? The reason I ask is that I live 5min from his shop & the guy is very cool, and if I had any troubles the shop is right there....Soooo let's here it.

I'm getting real close to purchasing a long travel kit. With all the kits out there I have narrowed my choises doen to 3. Mason motorsports, Shaws metal, and Toxic Rhino. Any thoughts on these 3 kits? :1zhelp:The Mason kit is real cool, and I have installed one, and sold a set of my tie rods to the owner of the rhino only after pretzeling his tie rod after one trip out, and the other guy already has his kit, and has popped a tie rod end off at Glamis, and we had to drag him back to camp with my HD Diesel. What an adventure! I had a chance to show him my tie rods on my buddy's mason kit, and he was sold! Another satisifed customer. I have developed this kit because of the fact that most long travel companies just throw in extensions because tie rod kits would promote bump steer. My setup won't 'at all' if installed correctly. There is just 2 optional ways to install them. My site is finally up, you can see for yourself. WWW.SOUTHBAYRHINO.COM (http://www.SOUTHBAYRHINO.COM). Good Luck!!I wouldn't get that rear any wider if you have long travel already. Why do the wheels camber in on the front suspension of long travel?

why not Fox piggy's? Im sure someones got to have those in stock. I love the ones on my Long Travel.I JUST PERCHASED THE NEW SPORT RHINO WITH PIGGIE BACK SHOCKS AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A COMPANY THAT MADE A LONG TRAVEL KIT THAT MIGHT BE ABLE TO USE THE SHOCKS THAT CAME WITH MY RHINO. THEN LATTER ON WHEN I GET SOME MORE MOOLAA I CAN UPGRADE JUST THE SHOCKS.Well I'm finally getting long travel. I went with Dragon Fire Racings new 6" Long travel with Fox Shocks. Does anybody else have this set up or any long travel from them? :D :DThanks Tate for the good word and yes we will do what ever it takes to make the people who spend thier hard earned dollars with us and we have 14 long travel kits in stock and spare parts just incase somebody gets really carzy well do what it take to make um happy campers

I took mine off and talked wildbill into removing his, Bill's comment was he kills through the whoops with it off. In a big fast corner it is a little sketchy but nothing to worry about. I have ran mine off since installing longtravel.Well, the long travel will be going in over the weekend. I might be able to get some pics out by middle of the week. I will also bring it to the Rhino Crash for the ultimate test. :DCan the long travel help on the trails as well?Your rhino looks awesome!! mine is at B&A right now getting my long travel installed and im looking forward to getting my cage done by them in the next few months.

everyone is getting into the act... next thing you know Rancho will have a long travel for the Rhino.if your gonna do a full blown race race rhino to be able to run all races with passing inspections...then i suggest Jason Weller and Weller Racing..(link's below) but if you just want to be stock with long travel then definately go to rhinocrapbobby better watch out though, with my new long travel!!!http://bestsmileys.com/music1/18.gif http://bestsmileys.com/cars/3.gifIt looks like the So Cal UTV Long Travel.

Serena!! Did you get your long travel yet?? ;)FST Motorsports is at the races with their long travel kit on my Rhino... so they arent just making a long travel kit to sell to people to make money, they put it on a Rhino and do race prep at the track... they stand behind their product. Without their help I wouldnt have been able to compete that night. Not to mention they also helped out other racers at the track.what was the name of thet pizza place again....60 posts and still going strong. I hope nobody asks who's long travel is best.had a good time out there watchin... i need long travel !
